The Center for Applied AI (C4AI) was formed to help organizations and individuals meet the challenge of applying artificial intelligence (AI) and related exponential technologies to complex, real world problems and use cases.

C4AI believes that AI will be the most transformative technology in human history, and as a result there are many complex issues to address: mission and business opportunities and impacts, governance, ethics, security, privacy and public policy.

C4AI consists of the following operation components:

• Comprehensive Training Catalog: covering all facets of AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Leadership, Software Development, Cloud, Product Engineering 
• AI Strategy and Advisory Services: AI Frameworks, Lifecycle & Risk Management, Governance, Responsible AI, Language Model Development, AI Automation
• Applied AI Lab: AI/ML research, use case testing, product/service development; AI/ML managed services for clients and partners; specialized training programs
• Advisory Board: consisting of leaders from Federal government, major corporations and nonprofits, academia, and public policy

C4AI works with government agencies, the national security community, major corporations in every sector and industry, as well as non-profit organizations. C4AI is a subsidiary of UMBC Training Centers, which is an affiliate organization of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a top-ranked national research university.
